As part of the Bridging Cultures Project, Hope Foundation recently hosted a documentary screening and discussion evening titled “The Cost of Growth”, focusing on extractivism and the search for a fairer future.
The film explores how growth-driven economic models are accelerating the climate crisis and affecting communities across Europe and beyond. It highlights local struggles in regions such as Serbia, Italy, and Sápmi, while showcasing how communities are resisting and building alternative, more sustainable systems.
The screening was followed by an engaging discussion with activist Sebastián Uribe, who shared insights into the degrowth movement and pathways toward more just and sustainable societies. Participants also had the opportunity to take part in an open Q&A session, fostering dialogue and exchange.
The event, enriched by contributions from Ana Luísa de Campos, created a welcoming space for reflection, learning, and community engagement. With drinks and snacks provided, the evening brought together a diverse audience committed to exploring solutions for global challenges.
