As the school year comes to a close, the Hope Foundation looks back on another inspiring year of learning, exchange, and collaboration with schools across Berlin. Through our educational projects Fair Champions and Bridging Cultures, we had the opportunity to engage hundreds of students in interactive workshops that encouraged global thinking, critical reflection, and active participation.
Our Fair Champions workshops introduced students in grades from 4 to 6 to the world of sustainable fashion. Together, they explored the journey of a T-shirt, learned about global supply chains, fair working conditions, and the environmental impact of the textile industry. Through hands-on activities and discussions, students discovered how their everyday choices can contribute to a more sustainable future.
At the same time, our Bridging Cultures – Embracing Diversity, Empowering Equality project brought international trainers from the Global South into Berlin classrooms. These trainers from Brazil and Ethiopia prepared workshops provided first-hand perspectives on topics such as global partnerships, tourism, indigenous cultures, gender equality, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students not only improved their language skills but also gained valuable intercultural experiences by engaging directly with trainers from different cultural backgrounds.
Over the course of the school year, we worked with more than 10 schools across Berlin, reaching 468 students through our workshops. We would like to thank all participating schools, teachers, students, and trainers for making this project year such a success. We are already looking forward to returning to Berlin schools in the 2026/2027 school year with new ideas, inspiring workshops, and many more opportunities to learn from one another.
