Forest Cup

Challenges

Communities in Eastern Cameroon, particularly in Bertoua, face growing environmental challenges such as unmanaged waste, deforestation, and limited awareness of environmental protection. At the same time, many young people have limited access to structured activities that promote leadership, responsibility, and civic engagement.

There is a need for innovative approaches that can engage youth while addressing environmental issues in a practical and meaningful way.

Our Response

The Forest Cup project combines environmental education, community action, and football to empower young people and promote sustainable practices. By using football as an entry point, the project engages youth and communities in learning about environmental responsibility while actively participating in solutions.

Through a mix of training, community activities, and sports events, the project creates a dynamic platform for awareness, participation, and long-term behavioral change.

what we do

Capacity Building & Environmental Education

We train local football coaches and youth leaders on environmental topics, leadership, and how to integrate sustainability into sports activities.

Football for Awareness & Engagement

We host the Forest Cup tournament, using football as a platform to spread environmental messages and bring communities together.

Community Action & Conservation Activities

We organise clean-up campaigns, recycling initiatives, and tree-planting activities involving youth and local communities.

Youth Empowerment & Inclusion

We engage young people—especially from underserved communities—and promote participation, leadership, and inclusion, with special attention to girls and young women.

Through the Forest Cup, young people gain environmental awareness, leadership skills, and a stronger sense of responsibility toward their communities. By combining sport with practical action, the project promotes lasting behavioral change and empowers youth to become active contributors to a more sustainable future.
