Many schools in Cameroon still lack access to clean drinking water and adequate sanitation facilities. Despite efforts by some institutions, gaps remain in providing safe water sources and hygienic toilet systems for both students and staff.
These challenges often lead to poor hygiene conditions, increased risk of disease, and reduced school attendance. In particular, girls are disproportionately affected, with inadequate sanitation contributing to absenteeism and school dropouts.
The School WASH Program focuses on supporting schools in improving access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities. We work closely with schools to identify their needs and implement practical solutions that enhance the learning environment and promote student well-being.
Our approach combines infrastructure development with education and capacity building, ensuring that schools are equipped not only with facilities but also with the knowledge to maintain and use them effectively.
We construct and install facilities such as boreholes, solar-powered water systems, and modern toilet blocks to improve access to clean water and sanitation in schools
We organise workshops and awareness sessions—especially for young girls—to promote hygiene, health, and confidence in a safe learning space.
We train teachers and school staff on WASH practices, enabling them to educate students and promote healthy behaviors within the school environment.
We renovate existing water points and expand WASH infrastructure to reach more schools and communities in need.
Through the School WASH Program, schools are transformed into safer and healthier learning environments where children can thrive. By improving access to clean water and sanitation, we support better attendance, enhance student well-being, and contribute to long-term educational success. Our goal is to expand these efforts and ensure that every child learns in a clean and dignified environment.
Having access to clean water at school has made a big difference. We are healthier, and we can focus better on our studies.
