Following the African Cup
of Nations, we will hold our tournament in February with a total number of 20
teams. This year, girls and boys between the ages of 13 and 17 will compete
against each other to win the tournament.
We would like to take advantage of the great enthusiasm for football within the country and use the Football for Life project to draw attention to living together peacefully in the community.
Our goals are to strengthen key skills such as teamwork, responsibility, reliability and non-violent communication. But also to give young people new perspectives, to emphasize values such as friendship and love, to spread the message of peace and reconciliation for a safe coexistence, to motivate children and young people to participate in sports in order to stay healthy in the future. In order to make these goals sustainable, young local football coaches will be trained to establish the sport in the society in a long term.
In order to run the project
smoothly and successfully, we are working together with local and international
Local social workers/peace builders will design and conduct the workshops integrated into the tournament. The themes of the workshops are, as the motto already suggests, peaceful and respectful coexistence, combating gender inequality and mental health.
We also receive additional support from local partners of the city of Douala and companies.
We would like to express our gratitude to Trikot für die Welt, Biotronik, Universal Sport and Stiftung Nord-Süd-Brücken, who enable us to carry out the project in the best possible way with the help of their material and financial support.
