Malaria
claimed many victims again this year. The World Health Organisation
estimates that 3% of all malaria-related deaths in the world are in
Cameroon. It means that Cameroon is still one of the 11 most
malaria-infected countries in the world.
The world's attention this year was not on this problem, but much more on Covid-19. The press frenzy about the newly emerged disease obscured almost all other illnesses that still claimed thousands of victims this year. Therefore, we consider it essential to draw attention to the disease again.
Social media is best for this, because we want to reach young people in particular. That's why we decided to publish an Instagram filter with a challenge. The filter gives you a German tongue twister on the subject of malaria. You have to try to pronounce it without making mistakes. After you've done that, you can tag three friends who then complete the challenge and tag three friends again.
We
want to do our part to ensure that this year, under particular
circumstances, the topic of malaria and the many victims that the
disease brings with it will not be forgotten. Next year we have big
goals again in our MalariaFreeCameroon
project. We want to distribute more than 500 nets for prevention and provide
further information about the disease. Your donation is vital for this. A
net costs only 10 euros and can protect a whole family from the dangerous illness. Help us and donate here.
