Come let’s celebrate the 3rd “Barefoot for Africa” Day at YAAM!

31. August 2012

After 2 major successes of hosting the “Barefoot 4 Africa” day in the past, the Hope Foundation wishes to call on all interested to attend the 3rd edition of the “Barefoot 4 Africa” campaign.  This year’s event will take place on the 9th of September 2012 at the Young African Art Market (YAAM) in Ostbahnhof Berlin at 12 noon prompt!

Do not miss out on the line up of fun activities we have in store for you. Upcoming artists such as Ephraim Judah, Kingsley Quainoo, Sista Zoum, Candy, Chima Ede, Yza Ya and dj’s like Big Papa, Tikogo Soundz and dj Matar will all be present to grace the day. An after show party will round up the day with good music, a camp fire and the sounds of African percussion.

There will be a children’s play area to cater to the young ones through storytelling, face painting and various sporting activities.

“Barefoot 4 Africa” is part of the Shoe Aid Project by the Hope Foundation. The Shoe Aid Project is a shoe donations and recycling programme which collects shoes, cleans them and sends them to rural areas of Cameroon where many people go without shoes every day. The Hope Foundation will be collecting shoes on the day so remember to bring all your old unwanted shoes with!

“Barefoot 4 Africa” attracted over 800 visitors in 2011 and in total, about 1000 shoes were collected for the less privileged people in Cameroon.

The director of the Foundation; Gerald Bobga Fonkenmun said that, “The events in the last 2 years were a complete success. We are calling people for the 3rd time to donate shoes and other resources to improve the lives of rural people in Cameroon”. He also added, “The event helps us to cover the cost of storage, transportation and distribution of shoes through cash donations made. It also helps us plan and implement future projects to support people in Cameroon. We are grateful for every donation”.
