After the successful completion of the
preparation and planning phase as well as the first construction
phase we have come to the point where the next steps of
the construction of our multi-purpose school in Bertoua will take
shape.
Due to the amazing cooperation between Hope Foundation, a group of 15 architectural students of the Technische Universität (TU) Berlin, the architectural office dieBaupiloten, the Cameroonian professionals and the big number of voluntary helpers, the first four multi-purpose rooms of the school could already be constructed. These include teacher rooms and the room for the principle which can temporarily be used as classrooms; furthermore a multi-purpose hall for workshops and similar activities. Their roofs are now to be covered and the floors will be completed throughout the second construction phase starting these days. More class- and multi-purpose rooms will be built at the same time.
For this reason, two of the cooperating
TU students arrived in Bertoua some days ago. The team which is
to be reinforced by more helpers in January 2015 is already starting
the next construction phase. With it we are well on the way to
reaching our goal! The planned multi-purpose building will not only
serve as a preschool for 50 and a primary school for 250 children.
Moreover, it will function as a space for educational workshops,
communication, exchange and sport activities.
It is the people in Bertoua who will be in charge of the multi-purpose complex and we really hope it will provide them an opportunity to increase their living standard.
The multi-purpose school in Bertoua will open its doors in September 2015 – therefore, we are highly motivated and extremely glad to start the next construction phase!
