Now recruiting trainers for "Bridging Cultures" program

Hope Foundation is a German and Cameroonian non-profit and non-governmental organization. It was founded by a group of young, dynamic and committed individuals in 2001, with the primary goal of promoting community development and alleviating poverty in rural and impoverished areas of Cameroon. A number of awareness and cultural projects are also carried out within Germany.

From the 1st of September until the 31st of October 2014 "Bridging Cultures", our Global Cultures Education Program will be held at secondary schools in Berlin and Brandenburg. The two-day workshops deal with themes of globalisation, the MDGs and key socio-political issues in Africa, Asia and South America.

As a trainer from the so-called developing world you will teach in English and discuss and devise together with the students ideas for solutions to development related topics of your continent. In addition, the students will design innovative and creative ideas for projects and events in Germany to raise awareness of the topics discussed.

This year special themes to be discussed are:

  • Women's Empowerment
  • Terrorism and World Peace
  • Minority and Indigenous Groups

Objectives of Bridging Cultures:

  • Raising awareness of global relations and development problems
  • Promotion of own social skills and commitment
  • Development of intercultural relations
  • Elimination of prejudice and racism
  • Improving the English language skills of students

Target group:

Students between 16 and 20 years in secondary and high schools in Berlin and Brandenburg

Work:

You will attend an orientation workshop upon arriving in Berlin to support you with the contents, material and procedure of the workshop. The workshops will start on the 8th of September.

A working timetable will be presented to all trainers.

You will work with schools following the timetable and the days when schools are not visited, you will be based at Hope Foundation head office preparing for your class presentations.

Requirements:

From Africa, Asia, or South America

Excellent English skills

Very good knowledge about home country and continent

Very good knowledge about the themes of globalisation, MDG's as well as key political issues

Pleasant and friendly manner

Open-minded, flexible, disciplined and with training /teaching skills

Working hours 35

Compensation: Hope Foundation will cover your accommodation in Berlin during the internship and you will also receive a stipend of 240€/month to cover your food and leisure activities.

Trainers cover their flights/transportation to Berlin and back.
