Our third annual Malarathon, on April 27th, was again a full success
and our warmest “thank you” goes out to all of you who participated, donated,
and contributed in many wonderful ways. What have we used your donations for,
you may wonder? Our website and facebook profile will shortly feature the
photos of our most recent malaria education workshops in Cameroon, which were
made possible by the money you raised.
Unique about this year’s event was that we staged our first ever Bambini race. All children ran the 500 Meter distance as fast as they could; some with the help of their parents, others completely on their own. It was great fun for everyone on the race track to cheer on the little runners.
After we honoured the “little
ones” with medals, the adults had their turn and lined up at the start. All
runners began at the same time and the image of so many eager supporters of our
cause was deeply moving for the team of the Hope Foundation.
The team only had a few brief moments to catch their breath as the first runners on the 5 km route crossed the finish line after only a short 18 minutes.
Thank you once again to all runners for your participation! We very much hope to see you at the starting line next year.
